The Vancouver Canucks have unveiled a wall of tribute honouring Luc Bourdon - the 21-year-old defenceman whose life ended shortly after he began his promising professional ice hockey career with the team.
The Vancouver Canucks announced today that they will honour the memory of former Canucks defenceman Luc Bourdon on October 9, 2008 prior to the Canucks home opener. “Luc was an important part of our Canucks family. This is a great NFB film trailer for an upcoming film called La mémoire des anges incorporating fragments from 120 NFB movies showing life in Montreal in the 1950s and 1960s. Luc Bourdon seems to have been inspired by Arthur Lipsett, if the trailer's anything to go by. Can't wait to see it.

A note from Tim Wharnsby at the Globe & Mail hockey blog today: Vancouver Canucks defenceman Willie Mitchell was unable to attend the funeral of young teammate Luc Bourdon in Shippagan, N.B. earlier this week because he was in Toronto to begin proceedings on a grievance hearing with his old club, the Minnesota Wild. Mitchell, of Port McNeill, B.C., claims the Wild owes him his $1.775-million (U.S.)...
I could almost understand someone who doesn't ride a bike coming to the sort of conclusion that Lynn Saxberg of Motorcycle Mama does when discussing Luc Bourdon's fatal motorcycle accident - but coming from a biker? That's just plain wrong.
The best evidence that Luc Bourdon touched many lives in his short 21 years on this earth are the many tributes we've seen and heard in the last six days. It doesn't change the fact that he is gone, but for his family, friends and fans, surely it eases the pain to know just how much he was loved. Perusing through the Canucks message boards , I saw the following video, a nice tribute to a good player...
Funeral services were held yesterday for Luc Bourdon at a packed, small-town rink in northern New Brunswick where he took his first boyhood strides toward the great Canadian goal of playing in the NHL.
In the same rink where Luc Bourdon sometimes laced up his skates, the 21-year-old Vancouver Canucks rookie is remembered as a role model for local youngsters.
From the eulogies at Luc Bourdon’s funeral today, put together by Bal Brach at Canwest, via the National Post: In another eulogy, Mr. Bourdon, 21, was described as a courageous, tenacious, yet simple man. “You went down your dream road and you never stopped dreaming,” added another speaker in French. “For that and more we thank you.” “To the Vancouver Canucks, thank you for believing in Luc. When you...
