It all translated into a 4-2 victory for the Flyers and a third preseason loss for the Canes. Mike Richards had two short-handed goals for the Flyers, 3-1 into preseason.

Flyers Notes For left winger Simon Gagne, today will be a milestone of sorts. After appearing in just 25 games last season because of a concussion, Gagne will play in his first preseason game - on the first line, with center Mike Richards and right winger Danny Briere - when the Flyers face Carolina at the Wachovia Spectrum.

from Wayne Fish of phillyBurbs, This season’s short training camp should at least afford the Flyers a chance to tinker with a new first line: Namely, center Daniel Briere moving to right wing alongside Mike Richards. Coach John Stevens tried this alignment late in the conference finals against Pittsburgh last May and the reviews were generally good. Now, with Simon Gagne returning from concussion leave,...

from Wayne Fish of phillyBurbs, Whether they want to admit it or not, the Flyers are about to make an important decision. Within the next week, they will name a new captain, a designation more significant in hockey than any other sport. The finalists appear to be fourth-year center Mike Richards and All-Star defenseman Kimmo Timonen. Defenseman Jason Smith held the post last year but he left as a free...
