Ryan Hollweg, the Maple Leafs' new agitating left winger, was suspended two games by the NHL yesterday. It was an automatic banishment after he received a hitting from behind game misconduct during a pre-season game at St. Louis last Wednesday. The hit was on Blues defenceman Jay McKee.

from James Duthie of The Good, The Bad And The Duthie, I believe there is a place (allbeit a small one) for fighting in hockey. But the amount of fisticuffs in the pre-season is just plain silly. Toronto’s Ryan Hollweg was in three scraps last night against St. Louis. Fist-trick! If you are trying to send a message to your opponent, or impress your coach, wouldn’t one or two suffice? more hockey bits…...

from Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun, Born in California to a father of Brazilian-German heritage and maxing out at 5-foot-11, Ryan Hollweg knows all about overcoming the hockey odds. Whether he can help turn around the fortunes of the Maple Leafs this year is unknown, but he certainly has the right attitude. Hollweg got off to a rousing start with several big hits in a 7-4 win over the Buffalo Sabres...
