No word if “The Brass Bonanza” was played at his press conference. Wesley won the Cup back in 2006 with Carolina, but I usually think of the Whalers’ failed attempt [...]

On Wednesday, the Hurricanes announced that they have re-signed winger Sergei Samsonov to a three year deal valued at $7.6M. Next season, he will make $2.3, followed by $2.5M in 2009-10 and $2.8M in 2010-11. Last year, he made $3.525 between the Blackhawks and the Canes. I'm pretty excited. He was an excellent waiver wire acquisition who snapped into place immediately. In 38 games with the Canes, he...

from Michael Farber at TSN, And now, Montreal has fallen madly in love with other Russian dolls. A year ago, many of the Canadiens’ problems could be traced to Russian players that included Alex Kovalev’s critical comments of the organization and Sergei Samsonov’s stunning ineptitude. Now, the Russians and Belarussians have become the city’s - and perhaps destiny’s - darlings. After head coach Guy...

In the salary-cap world, it's never too early to start thinking about next season. And while the Hurricanes have a full load of forwards, they'll probably be looking for a defenseman via trade or free agency.

My favorite hockey team did something last night they seldom do. Beat Carolina in Carolina. RALEIGH, N.C. - Nathan Horton had a goal and an assist and the Florida Panthers beat Carolina 4-3 on Friday night to prevent the Hurricanes from clinching the Southeast Division. Radek Dvorak added a goal and an assist, and Jay Bouwmeester [...]

Bubba from Canes Country articulates: First Career Hat Trick Chad LaRose scored his first NHL career hat-trick and the Carolina Hurricanes dominated the Tampa Bay Lightning last night, 6-2. The win puts Carolina on the threshold of the Division championship as they just need one more win (or Washington loss), to lock things up. The Canes started [...]
