Officer, your murder suspect is broken. Aikido master and beloved Internet pinata Steven Seagal's second 2008 outing Kill Switch (aka A Higher Form Of Learning) is actually his very first cinematic adventure for maverick distributor First Look Pictures. Unfortunately, all of the usual problems from his years with Sony Pictures remain intact. The film finds our aging hero portraying emotionally

I read this wonderful, illuminating text first 25 years ago when I was practicing Ki, Aikido and Wing Tsun and some Initiatische Therapie with German Teacher Karlfried Graf Dürkheim and one of his master students. Takeharu Teramoto was Zen teacher of Dürkheim and Admiral AD and Professor at Naval Academy in Tokio. For all who have ears to hear...and listen deeply... Only today, 25 years later , I understand...

shudokan aikido: I want an aikido that's based on the original principals of 'love' and 'blending' and the more I do shudokan aikido the more I'm attacking, blocking and maiming myself. Yes, I'm carrying minor injuries every session and that's not what I was looking for. Aikido should be about harmony with your opponent and it's turned into a war against the brittleness of bones, the sensitivity of...
We’re talking surviving. And the answer is, as anyone would suspect, “No.” But there’s more to it than that. Read this Scientific American column for the full story. A note on fighting multiple attackers, though: in Aikido the mass attack is a standard practice routine, and a skilled and trained Aikidoist can do a very [...]
H/T to the liberal blog, “Aikido Center of Savannah,” and the note they took of a recent bit from Jim Wooten. It appears that the former Adjutant General of Georgia, David Poythress, may be headed toward a 2010 run for Governor. For a change, he represents a credible challenge to keeping the Governor’s Mansion red. [...]
We were playing with arm locks/joint manipulation techniques last week. Basic stuff that any aikido beginner will know. Here's some video footage of restraint techniques in action. The original purpose of such techniques was to damage joints, not to restrain or break arms. See how difficult it is trying to restrain someone who doesn't want to be?

Lifeways > Adonaikido Etymology and Meaning of Adonaikido. The name Adonaikido contains two words that are interwoven: Adonai and Aikido. As the name suggests, it is not just the joining of two thoughts which remain separate, but a theological and philosophical alchemy and blending which produces an entirely new paradigm in thought and spirituality. In this [...]
I recently logged on to my blog and realised that I've not posted for a little while. I usually try to only post when something happens or something strikes me to talk about Aikido. What is really driving me mad at the moment is that fact that I'm off dancing for two weeks and Aikido for three weeks following a minor op. How did I manage fit these activities in around study and work? Like I say, I...

AIPAC, the powerful "Israeli" lobby and the zionist friendly media have decided that since the black culture is really hip now and black entertainers can really carry a message, then why not use...
Where did Steven Seagal go wrong? His early movies—Hard to Kill, Out for Justice, Under Siege—reinvigorated the action genre, with their breathtaking displays of no-holds-barred Aikido. His next two-dozen films weren’t so well received, or so I hear. I didn’t watch them myself. It wasn’t the thin plots or dull acting that eventually turned me [...]
Late last night, my mind got to rambling and connected together some nice things which give me some hope for the future of technology. Take for instance martial arts, particular the “soft” martial arts, which rely on slow, precise movements of your body and which make heavy use of standardized forms and patterns of movement. [...]
Aikido Secrets Everyone Should Know When an attacker is approaching, the person only has a split second to decide whether to dodge or block the move of the opponent. There is no point thinking about what this happened in the first place but the concern now is just to stop it. In a fight, the person can make a counter attack in the hopes that the individual will be subdued. There is another way of...
