Reported to have been making around 20 knots of boat speed in approximately 23 knots of wind, the boat is reported to have pitch-poled....

The Vendée Globe organisers have ruled that retired French skipper Vincent Riou will be ranked as equal third at the close of the round-the-world race. Riou pulled out after his boat was damaged as he sought to rescue rival Jean Le Cam.
