Fed up with having to carry an entire team of under-achievers, long-suffering Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is now actively seeking a worse injury than he already has, according to sources in the Anfield camp. Despite being less than fifty percent fit, Gerrard limped off the bench last night to save a point for the inconsistent Reds, coolly slotting home a controversial penalty with his one functional...

English midfielder and Liverpool Captain Steven Gerrard scored a controversial penalty to earn struggling Liverpool a 2-2 EPL draw against Birmingham at Anfield on Monday. Gerrard, who came off the bench following a groin problem, rescued a point after Ngog went down under Lee Carsley's challenge, with furious City players insisting the French striker had dived. Despite the recovery, Liverpool remain...

This was about as woeful a night as Liverpool could experience without losing. Despite scoring the opener they were 2-1 down and even the equaliser shamed them since David Ngog, who had put his team ahead, appeared to dive as Lee Carsley slid into a challenge. The substitute Steven Gerrard converted the penalty in the 71st minute but his side has now taken a single victory from its last nine fixtures....

Rafa Benitez has been put under increasing pressure by his namesake Christian Benitez as Birmingham have pegged back a mis-firing Liverpool at half time in the Monday night clash at Anfield. Just before the break Cameron Jerome has compounded the misery at Anfield and given Birmingham a 2-1 lead. You would expect an early goal by David Ngog to settle any nerves that might have been circulating around...

Manchester City's season has turned into a grind. Four successive Premier League draws have applied the brakes to their early momentum and, in the process, provided a reminder of just how far Mark Hughes's side have to go before they can be considered title contenders. For the first time in nine matches, the visitors kept a clean sheet, although Birmingham City's failure to score owed nothing to the...

Great win playing 4-4-2. This report BBC Sport is pretty fair Birmingham survived a late fightback from Sunderland to seal a deserved win in front of new owner Carson Yeung. The Blues dominated the first half and defender Liam Ridgewell flicked in the opener off his chest from Sebastian Larsson's whipped-in free-kick. Scotland's James McFadden slotted in a fine second goal after a dazzling back-heel...

Once again this week I back Sunderland despite they disappointing me against Burnley in the Premier League this week. Sunderland head into manager Steve Bruce's former team Birmingham City looking in search of a win to qualify in the next round of the Carling Cup. Steve knows a lot about Birmingham as well as how the players have been playing, which would give him an advantage in this fixture. In...
