Birmingham continued to enjoy the mini-purple patch that has coincided with the resolution of Carson Yeung's interminable boardroom takeover, beating Fulham by the single goal of a largely messy match played in relentless driving rain. Alex McLeish's team are now unbeaten in four league games, equalling their best run in the top tier during his time in charge. The only goal of the game arrived after...

August 27, 2009. Mark it in your diary as the day Roy Hodgson rotated his squad. It was a day that was full of milestones - Fulham’s longest round-trip for a single match, the first time a football team has started a match with only one of three central midfielders able to pass, and the only time Astroturf has been used in a game involving an English side since, well, answers on a postcard please....

Unusually for this time of the year, there are more talking points on the pitch at Fulham, than off it. Roy Hodgson is his usual quiet self with regards transfers, so the only thing fans have had to shout about is the start Fulham’s second European outing this decade. The Whites played their first competitive match of the season even before August arrived, in a muggy Lithuania, with no new faces...
