Time to revisit my projections of who will be protected and who will be left available. What's changed in the past month? For last month's review, click here . A few days ago I posted about when players graduate from Generation Adidas status, which is highly relevant to this topic. Check out that post for further info. As of right now, I'm projecting nine players to graduate after the season: Alston,...

I think the most important part of this post is this link . That's a link to Wikipedia and their page on the 2006 MLS Expansion Draft , the one where Toronto was selecting players. I noticed while writing the previews for this year's draft that there was nowhere to find all the lists of protected players for the 2006 draft, as MLS just released a list of available players. I've been working on it,...

STARTERS Huge congrats to Sky Blue FC on winning the first ever WPS championship! dN Who was that corpse calling the game for Colorado yesterday'?? He barely registerd a wavelength when their team scored 2 goals to go ahead on the road in Chicago. What the hell was that. And then they game up three, including the game loser in stoppage time and he was only slightly more animated. Someone get this guy...

Photo by ISIphotos.com The Chicago Fire looked to be in danger of sliding into a serious slump on Sunday night, but wound up delivering the kind of victory that can transform a season. Down 2-0 and facing the prospect of a third loss in four matches, Chicago could have given up and fallen three points further behind East leaders Columbus. The Fire could have let its rash of defensive injuries and Bakary...

Who will Peter Nowak and the Philadelphia Union take? Who will each team protect? I don't know, but I'll give it my best guess three months before everyone really starts focusing on it. You remember the rules, don't you? I'm assuming they'll stay the same as the past three years: 11 players can be protected, must protect three foreigners, GA players are exempt. Important links: 2008 draft results (&...

A list of all penalties can be found on the league stats page (scroll to the bottom). However, on that page they don't list who earned and conceded the penalties like they used to a few years back. I've always missed that, so I keep track of it myself by looking through match reports. This seems to be the year of the handball. The past four years have seen 10, 10, 6, and 6 handballs result in penalties....

For the fifth time in six years, the New England Revolution have ended the Chicago Fire's season. New England forward Taylor Twellman scored a spectacular bicycle kick goal in the 38th minute that turned out to be the game winner. Twellman was covered tightly by Dasan Robinson and Logan Pause but was able to head the ball in the air then perform the acrobatic kick between the two defenders and leaving...
