D.C. United has been under the impression that Ivan Guerrero and Joe Vide would not be available for the U.S. Open Cup semifinal against New England because they had played in the event for the San Jose Earthquakes, thus rendering them "cup-tied." However, United was told by the U.S. Soccer Federation today that, because San Jose's participation came in a preliminary round (a 4-0 loss to Real Salt...

Honduras released its list of players it will use against Mexico on Aug. 20 in a World Cup qualifier. The list includes a pair of MLS players in Amado Guevara and Ivan Guerrero. Honduras and Mexico played a memorable game in Azteca, of course. Back in November 2001 Honduras needed a win to get into the 2002 World Cup and knock Mexico out in the process but that didn't happen as Mexico won 3-0 behind...

Fred and Ivan Guerrero provided width to the attack, the surprise tandem of Clyde Simms and Joe Vide fortified the middle of the pitch, Zach Wells made a breathtaking save, the backline got it right, and Luciano Emilio and Jaime Moreno took care of the scoring. All in all, a comprehensive performance by DCU. And oh by the way, four months into the season, in its 18th league match, United has its first...

This is a good signing for DC. The United have not been particularly great defensively and with the injury to Gonzalo Peralta and Marcello Gallardo (both expected to return soon), Guerrero, who can play on the left back and left midfield roles, can provide some defensive help in teh short run and some additional creativity on teh flanks in the long run. I can really see him teaming up with Gallardo...

Some things you should know about DCU's acquisition of Ivan Guerrero: *I'm hearing that a portion of his salary ($147,000 guaranteed) will remain on San Jose's books this season. *Guerrero entered in the second half in each of Honduras's World Cup qualifiers against Puerto Rico this summer and presumably will be named to the roster for the Aug. 20 semifinal-round opener at Mexico on Aug. 20 -- the...

Things are indeed looking up for San Jose's Ivan Guerrero. Why? Because he is now DC United's Ivan Guerrero. How's that for going from ashy to classy?
