Manchester City spent £38million this summer on Joleon Lescott and Kolo Toure, but the pair look incompatible at the centre of the team’s defence.I was at Eastlands to see City record their fifth successive draw in the Premier League with a 3-3 result at home to promoted Burnley. It was blatantly obvious what their problems are - and that is at the heart of their defence. There are no problems...

Big-spending Manchester City were held to a fifth successive draw as they played out a six goal thriller with Burnley at Eastlands. The visitors stunned Mark Hughes ' side by flying into a two-goal lead inside the opening 32 minutes. Graham Alexander's penalty put the Clarets ahead and Steven Fletcher exploited some slack defensive work to double their lead. But Shaun Wright-Phillips hauled the hosts...

City will jet out tomorrow for a sunshine break in Abu Dhabi in embarrassed, rather than holiday mood after dropping two home points against homespun opponents who had previously lost every away game this season. Leading 3-2 after 87 minutes, the money men from Eastlands were left deflated by their fifth draw in succession in the Premier League, Burnley gaining their point with a close-range finish...

Burnley's away record (five games, five defeats) should encourage Manchester City to believe they can pull out of a four-draw drift. Owen Coyle has little slack in his squad and injuries will probably persuade him to field the same starting XI, which includes two former City full-backs, Stephen Jordan and Tyrone Mears. City expect to welcome back two absentees from the goalless draw at Birmingham,...

Expectation, expectation, expectation. With a sense of frustration following four games on the spin, the unanimous feeling around the blogs and forums this week is that tomorrow's game takes on an extra significance. Back at home (easy to forget three of the four draws were on the road) and against a side who have badly struggled on their travels so far suggests three points is a given. Burnley have...

After a run of draws, we see the first rallying call from our new skipper, Kolo Toure: "We need to impose ourselves as we have some gifted players in this dressing room," he told the club's website. "We can enjoy our football by passing it and controlling games. That's what we need to achieve now. The team needs time but as time goes by we need to improve. "City is not the team...

Premier League 2009/10 Betting: Outright Market: The first question to ask is: will the Premier League be a four-horse race again? My answer is yes, despite the £100m Manchester City have spent. I don’t see how Mark Hughes’ side can climb from mid-table to champions in just one season, particularly since most of the players they have signed (Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz, Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor)...
