The Smokies are going to the Southern League Championship Series after outshining the Huntsville Stars, 3-1 this afternoon. The game started out as a pitcher's duel as starter Hung-Wen Chen got into trouble in the first two innings, but pitched out of it each time. In particular, after a walk and an error in the second inning, Chen threw a wild pitch to put men on second and third with only one out....

MILWAUKEE (MAJ: 67-73; 4th National League Central): The Brewers beat Arizona 9-2. Casey McGehee homered twice and drove in six runs for Milwaukee . We'll never know what kind of season Casey McGehee might have had if he made the Milwaukee Brewers' starting lineup out of spring training. What McGehee has done since getting his chance is impressive enough. McGehee supported a strong effort by right-hander...

The Smokies now have a two games to one lead in the best-of-five playoff series. Starter Andrew Cashner faced off against the Huntsville starter, former Smokie Mark Holliman. Harrison was traded to Pittsburgh, of course. Chiefs manager Marty Pevey shared the manager of the year award. Wish I had better news to report tonight.
