Victor Hanescu reached the quarterfinals of the Swiss Open by rallying past third-seeded Ivo Karlovic 6-7 (4), 7-6 (3), 7-6 (11) Thursday. The 27-year-old Romanian, ranked 80th, will face Jeremy Chardy of France in the clay-court event. Chardy also needed three sets with tiebreakers in his victory over Dominik Meffert of Germany, winning 6-7 (1), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4).
