Djokovic and Stepanek reach semifinal in Basel Novak Djokovic needed to work much harder today than he did yesterday against Hernych . Djokovic defeated Stanislas Wawrinka 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2 to advance to the semifinals of the Davidoff Swiss Indoors in Basel. The Serb trailed by a set and a service break before rallying against Wawrinka. Djokovic reached the semifinal stage for the 14th time in 20...

I'm back with Tennis, after ages of being somewhat bored of tennis results my interest was rekindled when an unexpected final cropped up at the LA Women's Tennis Championships. Firstly we had the exit of World No.1 Dinara Safina to Jie Zheng, this left a gap in this quarter of the draw, one in which I was sure Dinara would win or at least get to the final stage. Ana Ivanovic however couldn't capitalize...

Getty Agnieszka Radwanska could afford to acquire a little grace. I'm all for bucking tradition from time to time, but not when it comes to the traditional sportsmanship players show at Wimbledon by walking off the court together after a match. This is the second year in a row she has departed before her vanquisher. Nothing earth shattering, mind you. But I can't imagine it would cause her undue pain...

Me old mucker, Bob Mitchell , suggested that I do a week of Wimbledon posts. A not entirely unreasonable suggestion, Bob, mate, but, to be honest, I know bugger all about tennis. However, here's a wee gallery of hot tennis birds, to be going along with. Enjoy, fella. Ana Ivanovic. Anna Kournikova. Daniella Hantuchova. Elenia Dementieva. Maria Kirilenko. Maria Sharapova. Nicole Vaidisova. Tatiana Golova....

I didn't get a Day 1 review up because, well, it was far too busy on the farm. But I'll use Matthew's description of the blog from today's Open Thread to describe the today's action on the court as well. Getty Quiet was Marat Safin was when he appeared to be robbed on a backhand down the line close call leading 4-3 in the third set tiebreak against American Jesse Levine . He didn't even break a racquet....

Maxim U.K. has put out yet another useless list, this one titled “Top Ten Hottest Wimbeldon Tennis Players of 2009,” and rounding out the top three spots are Alona Bondarenko, Marta Domachowska, and Nicole Vaidisova. Not to be confused with Oksana Gaponenko, Tatyana Fedoseev, and Irina Svichkar, who topped my “Top Ten Hottest Mail [...]

French Open: Up close and personal with Radek Stepanek Radek Stepanek reveals his love of music, ice hockey and football. What is the last thing you do before you go to sleep? Turn off the TV. What could I listen to on your ipod? U2, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner and Alphaville. What is your favourite website? I’m not really into the web, but I would probably say Skype, which lets...
