It looks like Brian Cashman is wheeling and dealing in the early goings of the GM meetings. First we heard that he was chatting up Reds GM Walter Jocketty, which likely means nothing, but surely could mean something. Aaron Harang, anyone? Or maybe Jocketty is looking to cash in his Homer Bailey chip a bit [...]

Over at FanGraphs, there’s a fairly thoughtful post about Aaron Harang’s 2008 season, and what to expect from the big guy going forward. The conclusion: This past season saw his highest percentage of flyballs in a full season at 44%, so he threw more balls in the air, and a higher percentage than usual left [...]

Aaron Harang’s last start of the season tonight against St. Louis. If you had told me in April that Harang would be trying to get only his 7th win of the season on the next-to-last day of 2008, I wouldn’t have been a bit surprised to find out that the Reds were 74-86, and [...]

Aaron Harang has had a tough year. From the team refusing to score runs when he was on the mound, to coming back to soon from injuries, to being overworked by Dusty Baker, this just wasn’t Harang’s year. That’s why I’m happy to see him putting several solid starts together to close out the season [...]

Aaron Harang , indeed, was the winning pitcher in the Reds' 7-5 victory over the Florida Marlins in the home finale at Great American Ball Park.

It wasn't easy, but the Reds came back and then held on to win their final 2008 home game, and get another hard-to-come-by win for Aaron Harang as well. The hard-luck Harang is now 6-16 on the season. Harang pitched seven innings and gave up four runs on eight hits and two walks with six strikeouts. He allowed two home runs, and all the runs came in the first three innings. It looked bad at that point,...

The Reds go for the sweep today against Florida. Yeah, it’s a one-game “series,” but a sweep is a sweep. Aaron Harang is on the hill. Discuss it here.

The Cincinnati Reds play their final home game today, taking on the Florida Marlins in a make-up game of a rainout from May. Aaron Harang will face Ricky Nolasco. The Marlins are still theoretically in the race, but in actual terms have no chance to make the postseason. There are too many teams in front of them. The game will start at 1:10, and I would bet there are plenty of good seats available.

Edinson Volquez has 16 wins, Bronson Arroyo 15, and Johnny Cueto 8. This is relatively new, or at least recently unvisited, territory for Reds pitching. Volquez has matched the win total of Aaron Harang the last two years, and if he can get two more, he will match the 18 of Pete Schourek in 1995. The 31 combined for Volquez and Arroyo bests the Harang-Arroyo total of 30 in 2006, and is the most for...

CINCINNATI, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Aaron Harang threw a six-hitter and recorded his first shutout of the season Wednesday in carrying Cincinnati to a 3-0 decision over St. Louis. The Reds won their fourth straight game and the Cardinals have lost seven in a row. Harang (5-16) did not walk a batter and struck out four in what was the sixth shutout and 11th complete game of his career. Cincinnati managed...
