The novelty wears off... - Arequipa, Peru

Jump to the full entry & travel map Arequipa, Peru Well, the novelty of being alone has well and truly worn off.... Arequipa, whilst a beautiful city to spend an afternoon, is not really equipped for entertaining a sickly, lonesome traveller such as myself. Such is my boredom that after aimlessly wandering in the morning sunshine, picking up some essentials at the local shop and having...

Arequipa! - Arequipa, Peru

Jump to the full entry & travel map Arequipa, Peru Finally, the slippery cobbles of Cusco have faded on the horizon and our cheap overnight double-decker has swerved and skidded its way into new territory. The night was long and sleepless, due in part to the antibiotics i am now religiously popping, and spent gazing through the curtains at the star-splattered sky and crumbling mountain roads...

Canyon Country - Arequipa - Arequipa, Peru

Jump to the full entry & travel map Arequipa, Peru We arrived to Peru's second largest city by late afternoon, deciding to catch a day bus from Cuzco to soak in some of the rugged terrain scenery - somewhat wasted on Nic, suffering from a hangover, farewelling our English buddies the night before, further punished by an onslaight of horrendously loud and horrendously themed movies for 9hrs....

Chilling Out in Arequipa with Frozen Mummies - Arequipa, Peru

Jump to the full entry & travel map Arequipa, Peru Leaving Titicaca's picturesque but frigid shores to lower elevations in the hopes of warming my soul and alleviating my flu, I caught yet another nightbus from Puno, where I met a cool Australian woman. We parted ways in the morning, however, but talked about meeting up later on to see "Sex and the City" in poorly dubbed Spanish. Consulted Lonely...

S. America Pt. 2

... Our plan was to stay here for only one more day but unfortunatly the next available bus to Arequipa isn´t until Sunday. The hotel we are at is really nice w a pool and outdoor bar so it wont be so bad staying a few extra days. Met a bunch of other people here too from Germany, France and a ton from Israel. Anyway I don´t think I am going to be writing too much about the trip, I will let...

El Condor Pasa - Puno, Peru

... bone. So our fun day out turned into a bit of a disaster really... Anyways, next I moved on to Arequipa, the 1st place in Peru that I felt had a real charm about it and that I could quite happily potter about in for a few days. Went white water rafting, something I've always wanted to do and boy was it fucking cool. We did from Grade 2 all the way up to Grade 4+ (that's pretty rapidy), stayed...
