Ashland Inc.'s net income for the quarter ended June 30 declined 28 percent to $72 million, or $1.13 per share, compared with $100 million, or $1.58, in the same period a year earlier, as higher costs of sales, increased SG&A expenses, and higher income taxes offset an 11 percent increase in revenue.
