For a brief burst in the 1980s, you could buy 'Cyndi Lauper vs Madonna' fanzines. It was a pretty skewed contest because Lauper simply never appeared as fame-hungry as the Material Girl, even though her hits (from Girls Just Wanna Have Fun to I Drove All Night) boasted natural reserves of sass and genuinely fabulous vocals.
First she angered middle-America with her 'racy' photo shoot for Vanity Fair (even though she looked like a corpse), and now Miley Cyrus has gone one step further. She's really done it this time - WAPS is shaking with rage. Shaking. The irritating 15 year old has absolutely butchered Cyndi Lauper's 80s classic 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgdpyfdoIFQ)', which - in case...
Miley Cyrus Breakout Sun grade: B- On the second studio album she's released under her own name (as opposed to that of Hannah Montana, her Disney Channel alter ego), 15-year-old Miley Cyrus offers up a rendition of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" that says more about Cyrus' real-world existence as an overworked young media star than she (or her handlers) probably intended.

In this fan-recorded clip from a few weeks ago, the B-52's, Cyndi Lauper, Erasure, and others come together to belt out a gleeful version of Sly and the Family Stone's inclusive anthem "Everyday People." It seems like a blast, but the amusing thing about the clip is the way every time Fred Schneider perks up and sings louder, it feels as though you've just bitten into something weird and unexpected....
I have found that an easy way to let her know you care about her is through music. Make her a cd with some of her favorite music. It is an easy way to send a message. It is cute and thoughtful. Here are a few songs that I found I liked and so did she: Easy Listening, [...]
Cyndi Lauper plays Dublin's Tripod music venue on Saturday October 18th. I cannot remember Cyndi ever playing a show in Dublin before and of all the concerts I will see in 2008, this is the one I am most looking forward to. A big thank you to David for telling me about the concert, I know he will see her in London and I hope he loves the show. When I was growing up, my favourite music artist was of...

The last song of the last stop on this year's True Colors Tour at Red Rocks sweetly summarized what this production was all about: community, responsibility and a good time.
