World’s first “no lamp replacement, liquid-cooled” 1080p projector lands at CEDIA- Topic: Technology

Taiwanese OEM / ODM supplier Chilin Technology has introduced the planet’s first “lamp-free 1080p projector with liquid cooling” at this year’s CEDIA Expo . I love how the article says the projector is lamp free and then goes on to say its lamp lasts for 50,000 hours. I’m quick to criticize Darren Murph - or [...]

Space-age Hitachi refrigerators spray your eats with antioxidants

by Darren Murph , posted Sep 1st 2008 at 4:16AM We won't even pretend to act like we're fluent in Japanese, but based on our best understanding of machine translation, Hitachi has a few new refrigerators that will actually spritz your food with antioxidants and vitamins to keep things exceptionally fresh and clean (clean). The R-Y6000 and R-Y5400 will evidently sense what types of foods...

LG’s 42- / 50-inch PG6900 plasma packs built-in 160GB hard drive

by Darren Murph , posted Sep 1st 2008 at 3:14AM While we new LG had a pair of DVR-packin' plasmas lined up, nothing was officially official until now. The 42- and 50-inch PG6900 plasmas were designed to hold up to 86-hours of programming (SD, we assume) on its 160GB of internal hard drive space, and the 8-day EPG should give you a pretty decent view of what's coming on in the near future....

Microsoft job listing hints at App Store-like ‘Skymarket’ for Windows Mobile

by Darren Murph , posted Aug 31st 2008 at 11:03PM While Apple's App Store was far from being the first of its kind, we're now seeing a job posting over in the Redmond area that suggests that Microsoft is looking to produce something similar for its Windows Mobile platform. The news comes hot on the heels of Google's own Android Market announcement, and if the Product Manager position...

Life with PlayStation delayed, destined to be free

by Darren Murph , posted Aug 31st 2008 at 5:22PM You know how it goes with Sony and PS3-related peripherals. A big introduction, followed by a slight delay, followed by a longer delay, followed by a little something to take the sting off. Here we have word from Noam Rimon, senior development manager at SCEA R&D, that the news-blasting (and uncomfortably named) Life with playstation will...

by Darren Murph , posted Aug 31st 2008 at 3:25PMCTL, the same cats who brought us the 2go PC laptop, are apparently working up an equally cheap and not-exactly-flashy nettop PC. The 2go PC Nettop will reportedly range in price from $149 to $299 depending on specifications, and the baseline model will feature Intel's DG945GCLF motherboard, Intel's Atom 230 processor, 1GB of Kingston DDR2...
