Jenna Fischer and John C. Reilly in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (dir. Jake Kasdan, 2007). Jack Black and John C. Reilly. Jackson Browne, Jewel, and Lyle Lovett. "Fuck Nobility. Fuck ancient Egypt. Fuck cats." Masterpiece.

DVD/VIDEO: Vernon Neilly on DVD in Movie "Walk Hard"

Award Winning guitarist Vernon Neilly can now be seen in your living room, on your computer, and anywhere that you might have access to a DVD player, with the release of "Walk Hard, The Dewey Cox Story". Neilly, who has appeared in two other major motion pictures, "Along Came Polly" and "Starsky and Hutch", plays along side Saturday Night Live veterans John C. Reilly, and Tim Meadows as part...

Good Vibrations

So I've been obsessed, in recent weeks, with Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (and no, if you're curious, you have not lived until a preschooler comes into your living room and announces "I want Dewey Cox!" Just in case you were wondering.) I've even bought the soundtrack, and have been listening to it in the car. But this has led to all kinds of interesting conversations with my newly...

"Walk Hard" Completely Vindicated By Snoop Dogg/Johnny Cash Remix

Remember how, in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story , interest in the fallen country icon is reignited years later by a rap video with a Dewey sample? Since nobody saw the movie but me, you probably don't, but it happened -- and was awesome. Now, Life is imitating Art* as Snoop Dogg will appear on a "Walk The Line" remix. * Walk Hard was totally the best satire-biopic ever.

Drillbit Taylor DVD Review

Then came Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, followed by Drillbit Taylor and suddenly the Apatow name wasn’t quite so untouchable anymore. Drillbit Taylor in particular got hit hard by critics, although to be fair, it was another Apatow production that was not directed by the man himself. Instead, Steven Brill (whose credits include the forgettable Without a Paddle, Mr. Deeds and Little Nicky)...

Wellllll.... honestly, you would have too.

There is an out and out orgy scene with a few full frontal male nudity scenes in it in the movie "Walk Hard - The Dewey Cox Story". I'm not ashamed to admit that I looked up from my lappy and reached for the remote to pause it. Jules :OP

Two Minor Points

(1) I defy anyone to find a better segue in classic powerpop that Josie Cotton's "Johnny, Are You Queer?" to Paul Collins' Beat's "Let Me Into Your Life." It's more or less perfect. (2) Thers told me today he fully expects me to buy the Dewey Cox soundtrack in the next week. I expect he is correct. (I dunno, though; it doesn't seem to have his midget power Dylan parody--that's an issue. Let...

more film synth spotting

via John: "These two pictures come from the film 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story' -a really funny music-comedy with a lot of references to country and pop/rock mythology of the previous five decades. The first picture is a snapshot from the extras of the DVD, where the staring actor John C. Reilly records the vocal tracks and an ARP 2600 is visible. In the second picture you can see a Minimoog,...
