The Obama team has released its first ! Among the usual gang of employees of the nation's largest defense contractors (Boeing, Lockheed, and Raytheon have four donors between them!), trial lawyers, radical academics, and government employees, we found this transparent example of yet more illegal donations. Just look at who "Doug Berman," $500 donor, claims to work for.

I tried really hard to come up with a witty title, but this is all I could muster. After a long day stuck getting re-educated, I’m not going to try harder. Deal. Via Scott via Doug Berman comes word of Norm Pattis’ latest article in the Law Tribune (which I might have read if someone hadn’t [...]

At his Sentencing Law and Policy blog, Doug Berman posted an excerpt from the opinion: Here are the notable closing paragraphs of this opinion from the Utah Supreme Court in Archuleta v. Lax enforcement policies, judges who legislate from the bench and lack of support for law enforcement personnel all continue...

... interests intersect with those of the criminal justice system. Today, thanks to the indispensable Doug Berman, I just came across US v. Woods, this fascinating 5th Cir opinion vacating a supervised release condition (SRC) imposed by the district court on a defendant prohibiting her from living with persons she was not married to or related to by blood. The district court's SRC is...

... Kentucky terms, it establishes a prima facie case of bias, calling upon the ABA to explain itself. Doug Berman says the take-home lesson is "that that death penalty studies [are] ineffective if not attuned to political realities." I think the simple truth is that Florida legislators have recognized this agenda-driven study by a defense-dominated organization for exactly what it is....

In the regular course of relentlessly blogging sentencing law and policy issues Doug Berman has frequently wondered over the course of this presidential campaign why criminal justice issues haven’t been raised more often . I’ve mad no bones about which candidate I have supported during this election cycle, despite this not being a political blog and while I’d love to se a real discussion...
