I had the opportunity, belatedly, to view the debate between Pat McCrory and Beverly Perdue held earlier this week. Two parties-- Doug Clark and John Hood-- proclaimed Pat McCrory the victor. I tend to agree. I think we are very...

Doug Clark makes a good point about the absolutism that dooms big-L Libertarians to the fringes, but it's not accurate to put Mike Munger in the same category. From a column that ran in Doug's own paper: [Munger] also risks...

McCullough's book tour campaign for judge N.C. Court of Appeals Judge Doug McCullough's re-election campaign looks like a book tour. He's promoting "Sea of Greed, the True Story of America's Biggest Drug Raid," his account (with co-author Les Pendleton), of a case he prosecuted as an assistant U.S. attorney in the 1980s. From the Web site: "When the Coast Guard hailed a Gulf Coast shrimp trawler near...

June 4, 2008 McCrory should stay away from Bush President Bush is coming to Raleigh to raise money for Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory, Under the Dome reports. Man, I thought McCrory was smarter than that. Maybe Bush is money in the bank, but the unpopular lame duck is death with voters. McCrory is playing right into Democrats' hands. No amount of money he can raise is worth the cost....

Doug Clark pointed out that the top Republican vote-getter on May 6 was . . . Jewel Ann Farlow, who is running for the Court of Appeals, with over 600,000 votes. She has indicated to the SBOE that she will not raise or spend more than $3k. I can't even do that math. Presumably she pulled Democratic women to vote for her, notwithstanding that Judge Jim Wynn , against whom she is running, is universally...
