John Houston: Born; 1 April, 1930, in Buckhaven. Died: 27 September, 2008, in Edinburgh, aged 78.

JOHN Houston was one of the outstanding painters of his generation, but he could have been one of the outstanding footballers. Born in Buckhaven and educated at Buckhaven High School, he was encouraged by the art teacher there, Robert Morris, but histalent on the field was also spotted. Captain's Log Day 35 Cabin Fever in Edinburgh

Ahoy MateysCaptain's LogOkay so Kaitlyn and I have basically been on house arrest in Edinburgh during the past week and continuing into the next so as to be at Holyrood's beck and call should they wish to meet with us. We took this cabin fever inducing situation however and turned it into the oppurtunity to take some pictures of Edinburgh and further enjoy the city in which we now live and work.

After our disap pointment at the Old Dock Bar we went next door to the brilliant and sparkling Teuchter' s L anding *, a bar and restaurant which was welcoming in every way. It was warm, spotless and indeed shining, had a decent range of ales for its size, a vast array of whiskies and for Edinburgh, was reasonably priced. It was a great place to be.
