The Washington Nationals recently traded 2b prospect Emilio Bonifacio to the Florida Marlins for OFer Josh Willingham and SP Scott Olsen. This deal added to an already crowded OF in Washington. Washington's list of outfielders include Willingham, Lastings Milledge, Austin Kearns, Elijah Dukes, Willie Harris and Wily Mo Pena. After the deal, some speculated that Willingham may play 1b for the Nats....

The Nats acquired Josh Willingham (and a crappy pitcher) for Emilio Bonifacio and two prospects, leaving them with Elijah Dukes, Lastings Milledge, Willie Harris, Austin Kearns, and Wily Mo Pena on the outs. Even if Willingham is shifted to first to replace annual paraplegic Nick Johnson the Nats are still looking at a bit of a log jam. Kearns makes the most of the potential benched players (8 mil...

The Nationals had a super awesome jersey release party at the ESPN Zone in D.C. today. It went down at Noon … on a Thursday … and featured such superstars as Lastings Milledge and Elijah Dukes … and such shitty, overpriced food as the Zone Cheese Steak and Cajun Burger. God, that place fucking blows. [...]

Think back to March. Everything was still unclear. Johan Santana was the Mets savior. Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy were considered the hottest young commodities in all of baseball. Cliff Lee was hanging onto his major league career by a thread. The Rays were still a year away and Elijah Dukes was busy impregnating his [...]

...Lastings Milledge reaches on a throwing error by David Wright, and Elijah Dukes walks, so NY Manager Jerry Manuel turns to his pen for the sixth time tonight to try to hold onto the Mets' oddly shaky 9-5, ninth-inning lead. Pedro Feliciano replaces "Generic" Joe Smith on the mound, and gets a ground ball from Anderson Hernandez for the first out of the frame. Emilio Bonifacio grounds back to the...

[Photoset] No fireworks between the opposing #34s, Mike Pelfrey and Elijah Dukes, last night as the Nats prevailed over the Mets in a close 1-0 shutout (bumping the winning Phillies into 1st place). Odalis Perez pitched an outstanding game, bolstered by the defense behind him and the relievers who followed. Odalis also scored the winning [...]

Last night, the Nats did their part to help the Mets with an encore to last year's September choke, winning 7-2 ( The Post ). Elijah Dukes, who created a stir in Queens last week responded the best way a player can -- by hitting one out (VIDEO). Over on The Wash. Times , it is noted that Manny Acta has not had his 2010 option picked up . I think it should be, Acta has been solid keeping the team from...

Jose Reyes throws his bat at a fastball outside from DC lefty John Lannan, and Reyes almost beats the throw from DC second baseman Anderson Hernandez. Lannan walks Ryan Church, apparently cautious with a lefty who’s hit him hard before. Lannan drops a two-strike change out of the bottom of the zone to get David Wright swinging. Willie Harris charges in to grab the final out on Carlos Beltran’s weak...

THOMAS BOSWELL - Dukes Needs to Kiss the Antics Goodbye - The Post Bos notes that Elijah Dukes can be a star, but needs to grow up and cut out the nonsense and control his temper. That is true, but left unsaid is that Dukes has seven children by several different mothers, much bigger stakes than the Nats. He needs to provide for them and baseball is the best way for him to do that, but does he realize...

Peter Botte / NY Daily News : Hothead Elijah mixes it up with Pelfrey, fans — The Nationals have worked with troubled outfielder Elijah Dukes on managing his anger this season, but his temper almost got the best of him Wednesday night in a couple of minor incidents with the Mets and their fans at Shea.

Last time we touched on Nats outfielder Elijah Dukes, it was to share the tale of his run-in with his own manager — Manny Acta. Acta was pissed that Dukes had big-timed a home run and let him hear it, but Dukes wasn’t having any of that discipline. Well, Dukes the hothead was [...]
