Donyell Marshall knows he won't be the 76ers' go-to guy this season. The 6-foot-9 power forward, who signed a veteran minimum contract Tuesday, understands the man above him on the depth chart - two-time all-star Elton Brand - will get the lion's share of the minutes.

Fittingly for an area that encompasses the San Andreas Fault, the Pacific Division experienced a series of jarring tremors this past summer. Baron Davis left the Warriors. Elton Brand bolted the Clippers. Ron Artest was dispatched from the Kings.

The missing piece of the puzzle. The big talent off (the end of) the bench. Enter Donyell Marshall , the player that truly thrusts Philly into the ranks of contention. Elton Brand's too small to have post moves or play defense. He's so unaware of his role on a team and his own talents. Marshall on the other hand, knows exactly what aging players are supposed to do: shoot threes. Like, all the time....

When Elton Brand signed with the Sixers many people, myself included, thought this was the beginning of long stretch of relevancy for hoops in Philly. How could you not? The much-needed low-post threat was added to the mix. The front...

Prior to the start of last season, Andre Iguodala was considered the cornerstone of the franchise. If you went by salaries though, you would think that man was Sam Dalembert. Now that the Sixers paid big bucks to bring in Elton Brand as the franchise player and Iguodala remains a free agent, how [...]

Just like all good movies, every NBA team needs the perfect players to play the perfect roles. The Sixers already made a huge splash this off-season when they acquired Elton Brand, filling their role of “Lead Actor” you could say. If they can come to terms with Andre Iguodala then they have their blockbuster starring Robert [...]

It's not uncommon to report to your significant other. I mean, I shaved my beard for that very reason. That being said, this list - given to Elton Brand by his wife, Shahara - illuminates some reasons why Elton Brand had to leave Los Angeles .

He tells USA Today's Chris Colston that his new teammates, and the lack of paparazzi were factors. But it sounds like the biggest reasons were proximity to family, and the opportunity to get out from under the shadow of the Lakers. My wife (Shahara) is from Newark, N.J. and I'm from Peekskill, N.Y. We're expecting our first child soon so it's good to have a family support group reasonably close by....

It looks like the Lakers will not be the only LA contenders for the playoffs. The Clippers signed the All-Star Baron Davis for five years and $65 million. If Elton Brand and Corey Maggette decide to stay, even though they both opted their contracts to become free agents, the Clippers will be a dominant team in the Western Conference. Davis battled injuries and still managed to play in all 82 games...
