Eric Byrnes was fighting something other than the injury bug on Wednesday morning. He was fighting a scorpion. During an interview with ESPN Radio’s Colin Cowherd Byrnes revealed that he was stung by a scorpion this morning after he attempted to kill it with a plunger. I don’t know about you but I really hope that [...]

Josh Byrnes rolled the dice with the Diamondbacks in the outfield, and unfortunately came up snake-eyes. Various trades left the organization denuded of depth at the position, and the team really needed everything to go right for the line-up to work. Eric Byrnes had to live up to his contract, Justin Upton had to prove a 20-year old was ready for the majors, Chris Young had to improve significantly...

A few days ago, MetsToday reader “Isuzudude” pointed out a suggestion by an Arizona writer that the Diamondbacks could consider trading outfielder Eric Byrnes to the Mets in return for Luis Castillo. The article has since been referred to and discussed by MetsBlog, and I think it merits conversation here. Though it’s only speculation by a [...]

Responding to a MetsBlog item raising the spectre of D-Backs D-Bag Eric Byrnes being shopped to the Mets, Hot Foot’s Anthony De Rosa declares, “if there is a chance to get him the Mets should be looking to make a deal.” He the epitome of what we here at Hot Foot stand for and look for [...]

A very popular rumor today was the Eric Byrnes for Luis Castillo idea. First off I would make the deal in a minute but I just don't see it as realistic. The funny thing is, it was an Arizona beat writer who suggested the idea and I would think the D-Backs would be the team that scoffed at the suggestion. So why would the the D-Backs look to move Byrnes, he's a 32 y/o right handed corner outfielder...

Brandon Eddy over at MetsBlog writes that the Diamondbacks may look to deal Eric Byrnes in the offseason. I’m not sure I believe it, since they just signed him to a long term deal, however if there is a chance to get him the Mets should be looking to make a deal. He the epitome of what [...]

In the Arizona Republic, columnist Nick Piecoro speculates that the D’Backs could look to trade OF Eric Byrnes, though it would be a ‘tough deal.’ Piecoro wonders if the Mets would be interested in acquiring Byrnes, and his two-year, $22 million contract, in exchange for Luis Castillo, who is due to earn [...]

Saw this from Joe DeMayo on Mike Silva’s NY Baseball Digest about the Snakes looking to get out from under Eric Byrnes contract and maybe there is a match with Gimp Castillo as the O-Dog is looking at free agency. Long time readers of this site know I’m a Byrnes-ie fan for a long time [...]

I saw Eric Byrnes online this morning on livevideo.com. He said the doctor was pleased with the latest MRI of his hamstring. The leg is healing very well. But EB has been advised to not push it. So Byrnesie won’t be coming back in ‘08. The doctor has recommended that Byrnesie treat his leg as [...]

Trade deadlines? We don’t need no stinkin’ trade deadlines! The D-backs have acquired outfielder Adam Dunn from the Reds in exchange for pitcher Dallas Buck and two players to be named later. Not sure what the players will be named later, but hopefully one of them is currently named “Eric Byrnes” and the other [...]
