Whether Islanders fans agree with it or not, the process of fixing the franchise began in earnest last summer when owner Charles Wang chose general manager Garth Snow over coach Ted Nolan and gave Snow the opportunity to hire his own man as coach. The Islanders might be the oldest "young" team in recent memory in the NHL. Tambellini tied for second in the AHL with 38 goals in 57 games at Bridgeport but managed only one goal in 31 appearances with the Isles.
