A Columbian associate of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is once again linked to FARC terrorists and Marxist Dictator Hugo Chavez with the revelation of damning new messages concerning Columbian Senator Piedad Córdoba that are currently being investigated by Columbian military officials. Once again we have a powerful American politician, this one the Speaker of the House of Representatives, linked...

Hugo Chavez, George Bush See Eye to Eye on Economics

As President Bush nationalizes the banking industry, Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez welcomes President Bush into the realm of socialism. "How are you, comrade Bush?" he asks. Ron Moore, stalwart conservative on this blog, says if McCain supports this deal (Fox reports that he does), real believers in the free market will just stay home on election day. Hugo Chávez Versus Human Rights

By Jose Miguel Vivanco On September 18, we released a report in Caracas that shows how President Hugo Chávez has undermined human rights guarantees in Venezuela. That night, we returned to our hotel and found around twenty Venezuelan security agents, some armed and in military uniform, awaiting us outside our rooms. They were accompanied by a man who announced--with no apparent sense of irony--that...

Barbecue the Motherfarker!

Fausta’s Blog » Blog Archive » Venezuela: Oil falls below $80, “Baby needs a new pair of shoes.” The Mideast worries and talks about reducing output, but the one with the most reason to worry is Hugo Chavez. No one, and I mean not one single petty tyrant in all the oil-financed tyrannies in the world, [...]

If Chavez Sweats, Then So Does Putin

Instapundit links to this article on Hugo Chavez’s financial woes exacerbated by rapidly falling oil prices. I think it important to remember that Russia remains just as dependent on oil revenues as Chavez’s regime and while Chavez’s is merely annoying, Russia has nukes. The great oil bust of ‘83 triggered the fall of the Soviet Union. We should keep an eye things over [...]

Odds and Sods

- The Telegraph reports something that Venezuela specialists have been pointing out for a long time now: While oil revenue is way up—as one would expect, with prices ten times what they were when Hugo Chavez was first elected—Venezuelan oil production is way down. In 1998, the country produced 3.2 million barrels a day. Today, OPEC says the nationalized oil industry (remember, Chavez fired 19,000...

Chavez you've let us down...

'You shut down Joint X's hamburger joints for a mere 48 hours. The sanction was all too brief.' Hugh O'Shaughnessy writes an open letter to Hugo Chávez Presidente, you've let us down! Hugo, we expected better of you! We learnt last week that you had closed down hundreds of hamburger joints in Venezuela run by a foreign company which for legal reasons I choose to call Joint X. You cited as your reason...

Venezuela Squeezed by Lower Output, Lower Prices; Only UK Paper Seems to Care

Matt Drudge learned long ago that jumping across the pond in the late evening and perusing the British press is a way to get a head start on the news, and in some cases to get news that the American press is ignoring. The situation with Hugo Chavez in Venezuela is an example of the latter. If it happens, call it The Caracas Crackup -- The UK Telegraph is reporting that the inevitable inefficiences...

Bad News: DJIA soars 936 Points!

The biggest gain in history, and overseas markets rocket. Overheard at Obama offices: "Quick! Get Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, his once Ten-Most-Wanted Wife to Wall Street! Oil output obstructionist...

Obstructionist...but not on purpose (one assumes!) It was no surprise to see confirmed in black and white the fact that Venezuela's daily oil production has fallen by 25% since Hugo Chavez has been president. Half of the oil now produced (from a total of 2.4 million barrels/day - down from 3.2) is sold the nations that are buddies with Hugo and they pay the Venezuelan state only 30% of the actual market...

When Kings censure Cartoons

When Kings censure Cartoons - teatrends

These are hard times for loved cartoons: Hugo Chavez bans The Simpsons, Heidi is changed in Turkey and China is limiting Disney production. Yet again, the highest spheres of power manipulate traditional medias.
