Businesses, individuals make efforts to "go green"

Carbon dioxide output reached a record high last year, which once again puts the world on high alert for the consequences of global warming. The three percent increase, driven heavily by China and the United States, could result in the highest rises in temperature ever recorded, according to the Associated Press.

Self-Disenfranchised

Because I am a registered member of the Green Party, I was not permitted to vote against William Jefferson today. I was going to vote for James Carter. I did not realize that this was a Democratic primary for the Congressional seat. I thought it was a good old-fashioned Louisiana open primary, which I strongly prefer. Dang it. Meanwhile, I am not aware if my inept party is even running someone for...

The creation of the citizen-driven Neighborhood Conservation District Committee was an important reform measure by the...

Algiers, LA Post-G

With all the Twitter and blog info coming out about conditions in New Orleans, I’ve become frustrated with the silence about Algiers. For out-of-towners, my community of Algiers is in Orleans Parish on the westbank of the Mississippi River across from Canal Street and the French Quarter. We often refer to ourselves as “the red-headed [...]
