It was all there for Jim Zorn to see when he arrived at his office Friday at 7:30 a.m., less than six hours after the Washington Redskins' buses pulled into team headquarters following a train ride from New Jersey.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. The only thing different about the Washington Redskins' season opener Thursday night against the New York Giants with Jim Zorn on the sideline - as opposed to having Joe Gibbs there for the last four years - was, well, you tell me.

Discuss if you are so inclined. I'd be more impressed with the Giants defensive line if Washington didn't appear to be in offensive disarray. Jason Campbell doesn't appear to be very well suited for Jim Zorn's scheme; 15/27 for 133 yards and a touchdown isn't awful, but it's not going to win many games without 200 yards on the ground either. As if to confirm his own math and possibly remind the coach of his inactivity in the passing game, Chris Cooley approached Jim Zorn in the Washington Redskins' locker room late Thursday night.

The most disappointing Washington Outsider tonight was not John McCain, since he has lived in Washington almost as long as I have been alive. Jim Zorn is a true Washington outsider, and boy, he was just about as grating as Sarah Palin. First of all, can we sit down and ask for Jason Campbell to be given a real fucking chance at some point? How many different offensives has he been asked to

Where we hand out labels following each Skins game. Sadly, today’s case is a 16-7 loss at New York … LOSERS: Jim Zorn — The offense never got going. At all. And the passing game looked real bad. They were also running the ball and huddling up late in the game while down two scores. And [...]

Filed under: Redskins , NFC East I love this new Redskins offense. Ya know, the kind that never uses timeouts, doesn't have a hurry up offense and decides to throw short on third (and fourth) downs. That was Redskins fans saw tonight as their team lose to the New York Giants, 16-7. On plenty of third down plays (and a late fourth down play), the Redskins threw passes that were a few yards short of...

Don't be fooled by the final score. That was a fucking disaster, is what that was. Jason Campbell looked lost. Clinton Portis seemed to be standing still. Durant Brooks punted more tonight than he did in his entire college career. Chris Cooley got me exactly zero fantasy points. Jim Zorn often appeared to be wistfully thinking about Seattle, and how great and uncomplicated his life was there. The only...

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Despite having played Washington at least twice a year since 1970, the Super Bowl champion New York Giants are going to be playing somewhat of a guessing game against the Redskins in the kickoff game to the NFL season. It's one of the advantages that Jim Zorn brings to the Redskins as their new coach.Zorn installed the West Coast offense, hired two new coordinators and has been...

Jim Zorn was asked the other day about Clinton Portis and socks. A man of assorted quirks and fashion statements, the Washington Redskins running back has a thing for socks, the color, style and how he wears them, often in violation of the NFL uniform code. He has received several fines.

This is the biggest day in Jim Zorn’s coaching career. Everything that happened, including his signing on with the Washington Redskins as offensive coordinator, was just a prelude to game one against the New York Giants tonight. That preseason stuff was just pretend, so it never happened. Like the tree falling in the forest with no [...]

The hiring of Jim Zorn as coach of the Washington Redskins is among several surprising moves made by teams. Debate in the nation's capital swirls around experience. Who's qualified and who isn't? Who deserves the job and who's a pretender? When it comes to decision-making strength, is the backbone iron or origami?
