sermon - epiphany 1B

NOTE: In this sermon I have tried something different, doing a brief meditation on each passage, taking the common theme of baptism and picking up on the common ingredient of ‘voice’. I have interspersed after each meditation verses from the hymn ‘Enemy of Apathy’ by John Bell and Graeme Maule, (Common Ground no.32, Church Hymnary [...]

Mutant X: Lazarus Syndrome – review (TV Episode)

Directed by: John Bell First Aired: 2002 Contains spoilers I was never a huge fan of Mutant X, though I did catch the odd episode. It just seemed a little sub-X-Men, despite coming from the Marvel stable itself. Indeed I believe that, until Fox threatened some legal action, the original form of the programme was designed to be even more X-Men like. This was a Season 1 episode – aired...

Music DVD Review: Widespread Panic - Live from Austin, TX

From what I’ve been told and have read, a Panic show is never the same nor do they play each song the same way, ever. Vic Chesnutt’s “Let’s Get Down to Business” starts out the show and gets everybody in the mood. This is followed by a Panic favorite “Ain’t Life Grand.” John Bell’s gruff voice fits Houser’s lyrics like a glove as the tempo quickens, such as life itself. “Space Wrangler”...
