Olympic champion Elena Dementieva showed her fighting qualities to outlast Slovenian qualifier Katarina Srebotnik 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 quarter finals.

Defending champion Elena Dementieva of Russia reached the quarterfinals of the Kremlin Cup by beating Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (2) on Wednesday. In first-round action, Danish teenager Caroline Wozniacki rallied to upset eighth-seeded Anna Chakvetadze of Russia 2-6, 6-1, 6-4. The third-seeded Dementieva, who won Olympic gold in Beijing, had two breaks to win the first set.
