We stayed in a really cool bungalow village, that while very nice, was a good 25 minute walk from the town. Thank goodness for motos! About 50 cents will get...

There I made an on the spot...

The alarm was set for 6 this morning. Rach was shattered though and didnrsquot hear it and slept for a further 30 mins. Dom was up and nearly ready by this point. We packed up and were picked up by tuk tuk at 7 to take us to the bus station. We got some breakfast and boarded the VIP bus ready for it to leave at 0800hrs. It was a brightly colored reasonable standard coach with air con an absolut

For instance, karaoke. If there's one thing you can be sure of, it's that the singing will always get steadily worse as the night progresses. It's not just the alcohol, although that does play a large part. The...

... just sway from side to side as they walk along. This elephant camp has been established outside of Luang Prabang. There are seven female, 2 male elephants and one baby male elephant(he was georgeous). The females were all rescued from their former life of logging and the males was purchased from Siem Reap, Cambodia. Without this place the elephants would continue to work long hours, be mistreated...

... stronger business relationships ,” Sonexay said. “We bring tourists from Cambodia to Vientiane and Luang Prabang .” Cambodia and Laos currently allow tourists and residents with automobiles to cross each others’ borders visa-free. “We have provided easy access between the countries,” he said, adding that trade relations will improve once additional agreements are implemented. “The more international...

... and dirty and still no nearer remedying it. We took a cab back into town and played the "Luang Prabang gambit". I sat in a bar with all the baggage and Jon legged it round town and couldn´t return until he´d found somewhere. By the time I´d finished by second beer and it was getting cold and dark he´d found the Hotel Soberania. To compare it to Fawlty Towers...

... had any disagreements apart from whether to turn left or right! The 26th I flew from Vientiane via Luang Prabang to Chiang Mai in North Thailand. In the evening I meet up with a friend (Ron) of my friend Cinnamon (from London Business School). He has lived in Chiang Mai for a few months, so knows all the good places to go for drinks and dinner. We went to a restaurant where tourists don’t...

Jump to the full entry & travel map Vientiane, Lao Peoples Dem Rep So we arrived in Vientiane which is a much larger and busier city than sweet, sleepy Luang Prabang. Here are where all of the embassies are (don't take photos of these, btw) as well as an arch de triumph (they were supposed to build a plane tarmac I heard, but decided to build the arch instead- sounds like something nola would...

Although not a necessarily noisy night storm wise the rain was still pouring down when we awoke. We were getting the mini van to Vientiane this morning not the VIP coach as before our assumption was that a mini van would have a greater ability in dodging pot holes. The road however was not as bad as from Luang Prabang as it didn't wind so much through the hills still many pot holes luckily

... he'd acquired a bit of a taste for the local poppy products since we'd seen him last. We had fled Luang Prabang to get away from the rain and even though the bus ride down got our hopes up with the sun shining the entire way, Vang Vieng still had shitloads more waiting for us. Apparently, the rain only stops in transit. Very peculiar. The really annoying thing was that it wasn't like sporadic...
