Dodds, battleships and Balrogs

... old fashioned. As a follow up to Mick's blog (itself from Ignited ) of a couple of weeks ago about Nigel Dodds being the DUP's candidate for MEP I have heard rumours that there is a short list headed by himself, then Jeffrey Donaldson, then Edwin Poots. The disadvantages to going off to Europe are obvious. However: “Tis an ill wind that blows no good.”

Unconfirmed Rumour: Nigel Dodds for Europe

I do like my rumours and gossip so I'd thought I'd share the most recent whispering game that has been going about the political circles. Nigel Dodds MP MLA OBE will be the DUP candidate to contest the European Election in June 2009. Talk about a big hitter. Discuss.

DUP says Maze film was platform for republican boasting

THE MAKERS of the BBC1 documentary about the 1983 Maze prison escape were more interested in providing republicans with a platform on which to boast of their deeds than in a proper and balanced assessment of the escape, DUP deputy leader Nigel Dodds has claimed.

DUP and the MEP candidancy…

Ignited over at Redemptions’s Son has an unconfirmed rumour that Nigel Dodds is going to run as the DUP’s candidate for next year’s European elections. That’s an interesting thought, but as the selection meeting has yet to take place probably previous. Not that there hasn’t been a great deal of internal speculation over who might (or might not) go for it. Two other names being bandied...
