There are only two options for any fifth region – the valleys or North Wales. Sadly, neither guarantee the new region would be a success. The Warriors were a great idea, in principle, but crowds were poor and Bridgend and Pontypridd lacked the financial muscle to survive in the hard-nosed world of professional rugby.
