Throughout much of the first half Friday night, nothing went right for Raytown South. Then the Cardinals showed why they are undefeated through five games. Thanks to some big running plays by DeJuan Beard, Sean Wheaton and Ronnell Garner, the Cardinals scored 22 straight points and pulled out a 22-20 victory over Lee’s Summit West at Raytown.

The weekly's owner, St. Joseph-based NPG Newspapers, announced in a note to readers Thursday that the paper was suspending publication of its print edition. It said that it would make periodic updates of Raytown news on the paper's Web site.
