Bigoted Sharia courts now legal in Britain

'YouTube Reinstates Pat Condell' by Richard Dawkins - RichardDawkins.net This man, Pat Condell, was banned from YouTube for awhile after people complained he was offensive. And sure, he's a bit prickly and has a beef with the Saudis but this is one of the least offensive things I've seen on You Tube.

[Evolution] The Genius of Charles Darwin!

The Genius of Charles Darwin is a three part television documentary, written and presented by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, celebrating the life and ideas of Charles Darwin for the 150th anniversary of his “The Origin of Species” and his 200th birthday So, I’ve searched through Google’s video archives to embed all three parts of the documentary [...]

Religion vs science: can the divide between God and rationality be reconciled?

''A clergyman in charge of education for the country's leading scientific organisation – it's a Monty Python sketch," pronounced Britain's top atheist, Richard Dawkins, recently. How the world turns. In the days of Galileo it was the church that went around persecuting scientists. Now the boot appears to be on the scientific foot. That is how it must feel, at any rate, to Professor Michael Reiss who...

The people need their opium…

Via PZ, an odd complaint against Richard Dawkins: In times of turbulence, the human being is little different from the vole or the dormouse. It will take shelter where it can. No amount of superior lecturing from an anti-Christ, not even one with so important a title as his, will alter that.

Names You Need to Know

By Chuck Colson, BreakPoint: You know these names, or at least you know many of them: Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens. They’re some of the best known of the “New Atheists,” the group that’s launched a massive public assault against religion over recent years. Now here are some more names that you need to know: Ravi Zacharias, Alister McGrath, Timothy Paul Jones, and Dinesh D’Souza,...

Religious crisis, Heaven to enter consolidation phase

Succumbing to a global reaction against religion, fomented by the likes of Richard Dawkins, God has announced a "strategic repositioning" of the Heaven brand, and has agreed to take a "less hands-on" approach to omnipotence. God has come under increasing levels of criticism in recent years, frequently along the lines of "If he's all-powerful, why does he let all those bad things happen?". In response,...

Starting With A Clean Slate

I have a very strained relationship with religion in general and with Judaism (the religion I grew up with) in particular. I’m an athiest, somewhere beyond Richard Dawkins and Douglas Adams but not quite as cranky as Christopher Hitchens. My own personal beliefs are closer to Zen Buddhism and maybe someday I’ll have the courage [...]

More on Maher ...

... Maherly Fair . (Hat tip, Paul Davis.) I found this interesting: Maher serves on the board of Sam Harris’s Reason Project with Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens, which directly links him with the three biggest atheist intellectuals in the world. Of course, Bill Maher is also on the board of PETA, thinks milk is poisonous, and has stated that he doesn’t believe in vaccination or that Louis...

What many atheists don't get: 10-7-08

As most of you are well aware, there's been a ton of press in the last few years about the so-called "New Atheists," those people -- like Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins -- who write best-selling books that...

Big Thinkers: Douglas Adams

A lively interview with Douglas Adams, who's best known for his Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. Richard Dawkins dedicated his The God Delusion to Adams, and in his book described how Adams came to understand evolution and afterward called himself a radical atheist. Adams passed away on May 11, 2001, eight days after this interview.

More "science" and religion ...

... He who has a why to live can bear almost any how . ... if religious imagery were only a consolation to believers then, presumably, non-believers would feel less pain when gazing on their beloved figures too. But is anyone suggesting that, say, a picture of Richard Dawkins would ease the suffering of atheists? I certainly think that ought to be looked into - "scientifically."
