To the Design Museum today to see a Richard Rogers retrospective and an exhibition of the photographs of Tim Walker. The Design Museum is on Shad Thames, just past Butler's Wharf on the 'wrong' side of Tower Bridge, although given the expense of flats in Butler's Wharf, and given the class of shops on Shad Thames, I suspect that the description of "wrong' is entirely relative, if not stone-cold incorrect....

The words "pissup", "brewery" and "couldn't organise a" were very much to mind as the umpteen-billion pound Richard Rogers-designed structure conspired to lose thousands of bags and strand countless passengers (including that nice Naomi Campbell , no less) when the ribbon was officially...

Last night Jennifer Lopez celebrated her birthday with husband Mark Antony by checking out Broadway play, In The Heights , at the Richard Rogers Theatre in New York. Jennifer looked very relaxed with wavy hair, wearing no make-up and a strapless Emilio Pucci maxi dress. This look is a far cry from her JLo days, when she would be in full make-up, and not a single strand of hair would be out of place....

Yesterday, palatinate took me out for tasty lunch at the Blue Print Cafe , which was very tasty and fun. Afterwards, we went to look at the Richard Rogers exhibition in the Design Museum , which was also fun: lots of models of bizarre buildings. Whoever curated it was obviously a total squeeing fan, because all the descriptions for unbuilt projects went on about what wonderful designs they were and...

Completed in 1986, Roger's building "with the insides on the outside" and an atrium at the centre caused a stir when it was built, as every thing even remotely tall or modern does in London, but like everything remotely controversial once completed it's now a London icon. Ironically, when Rogers won the competition to complete the building, he was on the verge of giving up his architectural career,...
