Forget Rudi Johnson's swiped luggage. In Mike Shanahan's eyes, Tatum Bell carries no baggage. Bell, who was captured on camera removing two Gucci bags belonging to his successor when he was released by the Lions on Sept. 2, said he's patched things up with Johnson, with whom he shares an agent.

The Denver Broncos are desperate for a running back. So desperate, in fact, that they have signed everyone’s favorite klepto, former Bronco Tatum Bell on Tuesday. Bell, accused of stealing Rudi Johnson’s bags shortly before his release from the Detroit Lions, hasn’t been able to find work in the NFL and was most recently seen [...]

A player could step in for injured featured back Rudi Johnson in 2007, rush for a career-high 763 yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games and play behind two other featured backs the next season. After seven NFL seasons, nothing about pro football surprises Kenny Watson.

Former Lions receiver Roy Williams decided to have a little fun at the Lions’ Mike Furrey Annual Charity Halloween Party to Benefit White Receivers by going as the luggage-thieving former Detroit running back Tatum Bell, complete with Rudi Johnson stolen drawers and a bell hop uniform. Though I hear Dan Orlovsky had trouble getting in [...]

Roy Williams, Halloween Superstar: “Williams came dressed as former Lions running back Tatum Bell, who made national headlines two months ago when he was accused of pilfering the travel bags of Detroit running back Rudi Johnson. Williams was wearing a bellhop uniform with a big name tag that said ‘T. Bell.’ Williams was also wearing [...]

A used car salesman, trying to cheer on his beloved Bengals, got KTFO Sunday by a still-at-large Steeler fan. Randy Reed was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken wrist after the blindside assault at Paul Brown Stadium. Adding insult to injury, his favorite Rudi Johnson jersey was ruined. What, pray tell, could have [...]

Oh dear Rudi Johnson, where are you? Sorry, feeling a bit nostalgic about the only season in my lifetime that I could watch the Bengals with a winning record, causally drinking a Budweiser (legally). So in 2007, Rudi Johnson had constant hamstring problems, with a dreadful rush-blocking offensive line, and finished the season with 497 yards rushing; averaging 2.9 yards-per-rush. He got stronger, more...

So much for rookie Kevin Smith losing his job as the Lions' starting running back. He started Sunday's 34-7 loss to Chicago despite reports veteran Rudi Johnson would. Smith was quoted last week saying he had been told he no longer was the starter, and other players also said a change had been made. But after the game, Smith denied he had said that.

During the first quarter of the 49ers game, Rudi Johnson came in at running back and never relinquished starting duties during the rest of the game. Johnson ended up rushing for 83 yards and also scored a touchdown on a screen pass. He played very well and earned the right to play as much as he did. Kevin Smith understands that Johnson did play well, but he's a little upset over the fact that his...

We allowed that the rust on Chris Perry would require a game or two -- after a full preseason, training camp -- to shake off. Having dumped Rudi Johnson in favor for the younger, swifter and stronger Perry seemed like a logical course of action, especially when considering that $3.2 million was allocated to a running back that seemed so degraded, that he'd never successfully run the ball on any single...

Q: Will the Lions be able to run? A: Yes, but the RB wasn't rookie Kevin Smith. Veteran Rudi Johnson busted out for 83 rushing yards and 48 receiving ones with a TD reception. But while the Lions were able to run, their passing game sputtered. QB Jon Kitna went 15-for-30 with just 146 yards. Q: Does Mike Martz run up the score on his former team? The former Lions' offense coordinator didn't need to...

Rudi Johnson finally gave the Lions a semblance of a running game on Sunday. His teammates aren't sure if that's going to be enough.
