Unfortunate news for the German market from Hirsch. The 2009 Hirsch convertible will still be available there, but the 300hp upgrade will not be included. It's now restricted to XWD vehicles only.

Trollhattansaab.com has posted images of what appears to be a Saab 9-3x CUV; sort of Saab's take on the Subaru Outback. The car has beefy tires and a raised suspension and most certainly their sophisticated Haldex AWD. Full story here . Images: Djup Strupe

This is not an Insignia=Saab thing. Don't make it out to be that. . BUT considering the next Saab 9-5 is going to be built on the same architecture as the Opel Insignia, it's interesting to note that the Insignia's just been awarded the maximum 5 stars by Euro NCAP .

That is a very dramatic headline, but unfortunately it's not a very dramatic story. It's a fun one for those who might consider themselves Saab anoraks, though (thanks Dave!). . The forums of Saab are alive with talks about the lately filed GM patents showing off pictures of a Saabified Subaru Tribeca which looks like a four door variant of a design mock up unofficially photographed in 2005. The curious part is the imaginary Saab 9-6X stole much of its design and styling from the Subaru Tribeca, even though GM separated from the Japanese car manufacturer soon after the original
