The Clarke Report says Rep. Tim Holden and his Democratic Party cronies are working on a plan to raise the national gas tax ... as if gas wasn't high enough at $4 a gallon. There's also a good post about how openly The New York Times is rooting for Barack Obama . GUNSERVATIVELY! has a link to a Michelle Malkin column about the Murtha race in western Pennsylvania, where challenger William Russell is...

This terrific missive comes to us from an astute political observer and CAGW member from Pennsylvania who is keeping an eye on Rep. Tim Holden (D-Pa.). Our watchdog in Pennsylvania has done his own homework here and asks some intriguing questions: What is the price of an honorary degree? The Harrisburg (PA) University of Science and Technology was founded [...]

The House Ethics Committee is to good government what the lottery is to sound financial planning, but maybe someone should refer the quote that Rep. Tim Holden gave to The (Allentown, Pa.) Morning Call for some scrutiny. Like many lawmakers, Holden secured an earmark for a contributor to his campaigns; thanks to the

A couple of days ago, I praised Congressman Tim Holden for offering an honest assessment of the hypocritical way the Democratic Party picks its presidential candidates. You remember the "count every vote" mantra from 2000 and 2004. Apparently it doesn't apply to the way Democrats count votes in primary elections. Anyway, while I applaud Holden for his candor, that doesn't mean I'd vote for the guy....

"The elitist liberals (in the Democratic Party) always find a way to ruin the process." -- U.S. Rep. Tim Holden, D-PA. What is Tim Holden , who represents Pennsylvania's 17th Congressional District, doing in the Democratic Party? This man is too honest to be associated with the Democrats. In a column by John Forester Jr. published Sunday in the Reading Eagle, Rep. Holden, who is one of the few superdelegates...

There were some primaries while I was away and there's one winning Blue America candidate I especially want to call to your attention, Martin Heinrich (NM-01). While some Democrats-- like David Boren (OK), John Barrow (GA), Chris Carney (PA), Melissa Bean (IL), Jim Cooper (TN), Tim Holden (PA), Nick Lampson (TX) and Heath Shuler (NC)-- are actually taking bribes contributions from the Telecom industry...

Must be a burden to be a legislator and not have interest in making a choice. Not having to make a decision is what Rep. Tim Holden says he was hoping for all along. The 17th District Democrat — and Pennsylvania superdelegate — was torn over the prospect of having to choose between Democratic presidential candidates [...]

I live in Tim Holden's district and have watched him easily swat away Leinbach, Paterno, and other challengers. He is immensely popular and even die-hard Republicans vote for him on the grounds that “he’s done a lot for the district” [read: he brings in the pork, and we Pennsylvanians, we love our pork]. He’s amiable, [...]

When I testified last year before the House Agriculture Committee's conservation subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Tim Holden, I was asked what I thought about means testing for conservation programs. The back story was the administration's proposal to means-test commodity programs...

This letter was recently sent to the Harrisburg Patriot-News in Pennsylvania by Club member Paul Whipple. Holden is the local congressman, representing the 17th congressional district. To the editor: Congressman Tim Holden's opposition to free trade with Colombia is a short-sighted betrayal of America’s principles and a concession to the unions that gave Holden $270,000 the last time he ran for re-election....

I sent the following letter last week to the Pottsville Republican & Herald newspaper in Pennsylvania: To the editor: Rep. Tim Holden said he was proud of every earmark that he sponsored last year ( “‘Ed McMahon Syndrome’? Gilhooley, Holden voice differences over earmarks” , March 24, 2008). Does that mean he was also proud of the earmarks that he supported for other districts? Holden voted to fund...

The last time Hillary Clinton wore her cute shamrock scarf, she uncorked that whopper about landing in Bosnia with gunshots rattling all around her. She might be able to perform penance when St. Patrick Day finally arrives this weekend in the Schuylkill County hamlet of Girardville. Rep. Tim Holden says he'd be happy to march shoulder-to-shoulder with Clinton -- or Obama -- but he's keeping his super-delegate...
