Speaking at GamesFest, Epic Games president Mike Capps revealed that Unreal Engine 4 is now in production and is expected for the PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox. He added that the next console generation may run from “2012 to 2018.” Surprised the PC wasn’t mentioned? Apparently the engine is being built for consoles first, with the PC following afterwards, as revealed by company founder Tim Sweeney....

Back in March, Epic's Tim Sweeney revealed that Unreal Engine 4 would "exclusively target the next console generation, Microsoft's successor for the Xbox 360, Sony's successor for the PlayStation 3 - and if Nintendo ships a machine with similar hardware specs, then that also. PCs will follow after that".
