by Genista POGO notes something I hadn't seen reported elsewhere--the last paragraph of a Chris Dodd statement regarding the selection of Neil Barofsky as Inspector General for the TARP bailout funds. Unfortunately, the confirmation has been delayed by at least one Senator. That delay is regrettable and not in the best interest of American taxpayers.
Mark Begich's lead over Senator Ted Stevens is now 3,724 . That is a difference of 1.18% which would give Begich the seat outright. Automatic recount would only be triggered by a margin of less than .5% . No more Ted Stevens for us! We'll have to make do with Sen. Toobz greatest hit: UPDATE: The Anchorage Daily News has called the race for Begich , as only 2,500 votes remain to be counted. Congratulations...
Longest-Serving and Indicted Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK), has lost his bid for relection in Alaska. With that in mind, let us remember his finest moment (via Wikipedia), in explaining how the internet works: Ten movies streaming across that, that Internet, and what happens to your own personal Internet? I just the other day got… an Internet was [...]
This works better for democratic control of the Senate. It also has the happy side effect of preventing Palin from seeking the senate seat. If Stevens were removed from office in the aftermath of his multiple felony convictions, Plain would probably want to throw her hat into the ring. Listening to her speak is like [...]
Begich Not a victory yet, but it's looking better and better. Mark Begich 132196 Ted Stevens 131382 20K or so votes will be counted tomorrow, with the remainder counted Monday. The areas to be counted are ones that usually break Democratic. Fingers crossed, but we may be up one more Senator.
Others can speak to their more personal experiences with Alaska, but I'll tell you, this is exactly what I expected to happen upon his (triumphant') return. But the crowd at his Anchorage rally seemed to harbor little doubt that Stevens, who showed flashes of both humility and defiance, would beat his challengers. They include Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich, a Democrat, who was holding a dueling rally...
Yesterday when I heard the Stevens verdict, I let out a "whoop!" But if he is indeed Baked Alaska, that's one vote closer to...gulp...Lieberman being 60. Please, by all that is holy, do not let that happen. Fifty-seven, sixty-one, but not sixty.
Where is Howard Cosell when you need him? The Hulk has been smashed by a guilty verdict on all counts in his corruption trial. This is good news for all those that have fought Stevens, Alaskan corruption (Palin is not really one of them either), and the GOP lions that have laid waste to the United States Senate for so long.
John McCain has called on Toobz Stevens to resign from the Senate. Yesterday, Senator Ted Stevens was found guilty of corruption. It is a sign of the health of our democracy that the people continue to hold their representatives to account for improper or illegal conduct, but this verdict is also a sign of the corruption and insider-dealing that has become so pervasive in our nation's capital....
Teddy "Toobz" Stevens found guilty on all counts . Oh, and they're all felonies. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Senate Republican in history and patriarch of Alaska politics, was found guilty of felony charges for making false statements. The verdict could spell the end of a 40-year Senate career for a man who rose to be one of the most dominant figures in the upper chamber and who helped...
... sense. And an utter disregard for ethics altogether. Does this mean voters will send him down the toobz come November? (YouTube -- a Connie Francis classic)

The next Senator from Alaska Another 10,000 votes counted in Alaska and Mark Begich's lead over Ted Stevens has increased from 3 to 814 votes (.29%) . The rest of the votes to be counted are from Begich-friendly districts . Bye bye Sen. Toobz.
