Next year, DeKalb County residents will see a lot more of Burrell Ellis, the county commissioner elected last month to become DeKalb's next chief executive officer. They may also see less of other people associated with the administration of current CEO Vernon Jones.

The former governor has billed his time at $473.33 an hour. He has offices in Marietta, and charged $1,419.99 for a three hour trip to DeKalb for a meeting with chief executive officer Vernon Jones and county attorney William Linkous. (That meeting occurred in March 2007, a month before the date of the April 27, 2007 hiring letter from Linkous.) Barnes charged another $1,893.32 to prepare...
