I have a 1.6 GHz PowerMac G5 running Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther). Earlier this year, the Safari browser was not supported as 10.3.9 is "old". I have recently bought 2GB of RAM, so the total is now 2.25GB, but this has done nothing to improve the operation or speed, as I thought it would. If I bought Leopard, would that improve things? I hope to keep my Mac for a few more years.Peter Medhurst The

It's apparently a known issue for OSX, but also Windows Vista, and possibly others. I was able to install it after 3 attempts on my laptop running 10.4 (Tiger), so I thought I'd update my desktop (running Panther), but after being...

Back in early May, we blogged to let you know that we were seriously considering whether Linden Lab should continue supporting Mac OS X 10.3, “Panther,” which was first released by Apple back in 2003. As we wrote then, our tracking shows that very few of you, about 1/4 of 1 percent of all of you, [...]

I am afraid it looks like Apple has made a blooper in Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). Regular Betalogue readers might remember that, as part of my job, I manage an Apple Xserve (G4 model) running Mac OS X Server version 10.3.9 (Panther). It’s an old machine (over five years old), but it’s running fine, and we [...]
