I'm going to be building a new system over the next few weeks. Quadcore (9450) DDR3, etc. (I already know I'll be paying a premium) Anyway, trying to figure out a good video card. Running AE CS3 , Cinema 4D, Particle Illusion, other intense video apps. I think I want to stick with ATI so it would be good to keep the responses to those. I've used ATI forever and haven't had much trouble over the years....

"You've probably already heard about Nvidia's recent price cuts affecting its latest GT200 series cards. If you're not in the market for a high end graphics board, you probably weren't very impressed, as â¬400 is still a lot to pay for a graphics card, no matter how powerful it may be. However, in the past week there were some pleasant changes in the sub-â¬100 price range as well, and this is what...

Of the 780G motherboards we have tested at OCC, the Sapphire PI-AMRS780G's performance falls somewhere in the middle - posting strong scores in some benchmarks, and relatively weak scores in others. When paired with a discrete video card, the Sapphire motherboard's IGP in Hybrid CrossFire mode definitely boosts graphics performance, which makes it an ideal candidate for an HTPC or a family computer...

With a factory overclocked video card there is usually not too much left on the table for the enthusiast to gain on top of the speeds the manufacturer has pulled from the silicon. The stock (If you can call it that) speeds of the FTW edition GTX 260 are 666MHz on the GPU core and 1107MHz on the memory. These "Factory Overclocked" speeds are already 90 and 107 MHz higher than the "stock" specifications....

I have really crappy pc’s at work. 1.5 celeron processors, 1gig ram, onboard video card. 4 years ago when they were donated by hp I cringed, and now it’s getting more and more difficult to get programs that will run on them. I bought ’spore’ thinking it’d be cool for the kids to design monsters then go out on missions, but I didn’t read the specs on the back of the box. * 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent...

Mark just wasn't satisfied with 3D glasses on his SGI machine , so he adapted them to work with any video card with a VESA-compliant stereo port - Now in all, it’s not too complicated what I do here. The SGIs have around 10-12 volts on the stereo port, while (same connector, same pin-out) the VESA stereo port has 5 volts on pin 1. In short, what I do here is only taking the stereo sync signal (pin...

Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 Video Card Sapphire has always offered the most influential ATI graphics products available, and the new Radeon HD 4850 is no different. Although it still uses GDDR3 clocked at 993 (1986 MHz DDR), unlike the 4870 version that is decked out with GDDR5, the Sapphire 100242L model offers 24x custom filter anti-aliasing (CFAA) on its 625 MHz 800-core RV770 GPU.
