Thanks to Rich, I had an opportunity to write a review of SecuriKey Professional for MacWorld. They sent me the USB key fobs, I played around with it for a couple of weeks on my MacBook Pro, and I generally liked the product. The only thing I wish they’d do is enable whole [...]

Over in the UK, the Defense Ministry is admitting to the fact that it's lost plenty of laptops with classified info on them . That, alone, isn't really all that newsworthy, given how common it is for governments around the world to lose such things. What was more interesting was the admission that employees have also lost 26 portable memory sticks (USB keys) with classified info on them (out of a total...

Laptops and USB keys get lost all the time, it is the unfortunate byproduct of their portability, the answer is to ensure that sensitive data is not held on these devices. I feel that the lack of technical

I think everyone can agree that when one gives Fedora help to someone, one should give the right answer. There’s been a little confusion over in #fedora about making bootable Live USB keys. In the old days, you used to be able to use a command like this to make a minimal, bootable USB: dd if=bootdisk.img of=/dev/sdX But the bootdisk.img file was a bitstream image of a bootable disk (in the hard disk/floppy...

Yay, Mandriva USB keys, Guadec edition arrived in Istanbul. If you didn't get yours yet, go to the bag stand with your badge. Remember to fix your USB key for the live install following these instructions . Note : it seems a subset of the USB keys were not duplicated correctly by our manufacturer and are completely empty (when mounted, label is Mandriva instead of Mdv_Flash). If you have such a key,...
