"J.D. Salinger invented blogs, according to a federal judge..."

"... who granted a temporary injunction yesterday against John David California's planned 'parody' of Catcher in the Rye." That's Gawker's take on the judicial opinion that said: Both narratives are told from the first-person point of view of a sarcastic, often uncouth protagonist who relies heavily on slang, euphemisms and colloquialisms, makes constant digression and asides, refers to readers...

Read lots of food blogs at once on Digesty

I mentioned yesterday to someone who was looking for a way to see what's going on with several L.A. and national food blogs at once, and since she hadn't heard of it, I thought I'd give it a plug. Jonah from la.foodblogging created Digesty as a way to see who's updated every day, without having to deal with news feeds or subscriptions, which some people don't care for. There's ways to slice the blogs...

Boys & blogs & blogs & new boys - or mostly so

As usual - some of these blogs you may already know but they're all ones which I've met for the first time this week. And although we've lost three more gay picture blogs these last few days, I've managed to get two new ones linked up to Smutty to partially replace them. But it's a bumper crop of general gay/bisexual blogs anyway! A blogger by the name of Dr Mandragora has been commenting on other...

Blogs c1998 - 2009 RIP?

I just finished reading an article by Charles Arthur on the Guardian website that seems to imply blogging is on its way out, the victim of its younger, flashier cousins, Facebook and Twitter. According to a Technorati study quoted in the New York Times as well just 7.4 million of the 133 million blogs in existence were updated in the three months covered. Actually, this sounds about right, as when...

Will blogs become main stream?

I ask this question because this is a topic that I really enjoy writing and reading about. Will bloggers become part of the Main Stream Media and will they ever start getting treated the same? I think they will, I believe that a day shall come when bloggers will be seen as people who can make or break politicians and its at that time when people will decide to treat bloggers like ordinary journalists....
