It was a pretty big deal when 37 Signals announced their drop of support for IE 6 across all their products. Then Apple released the new set of MobileMe web applications with no support for IE 6. Dan Benjamin and John Gruber spent some time talking about supporting Internet Explorer in the latest episode of [...]

If any of you have had problems loading Say Anything recently it may not entirely have been an issue with our recent server move. It turns out Sitemeter (which just about every blog on the internet uses to monitor traffic) did some updates that caused people using Internet Explorer 7 to crash when visiting a page with a Sitemeter counter. Since pretty much every page on Say Anything has a Sitemeter...

This morning I left entered the problem about loading on Sitemeter's support page. I got a nice email this afternoon in which they apologized and said they fixed the loading problem. I added the HTML code for Sitemter back into my template and our blog loads just fine now. There is still something a bit funny. This " http://www.sitemeter.com/ " doesn't work, but this" http://sitemeter.com/ " does work....

For some hours those with Internet Explorer had problems to access this site getting this message "Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://blog.jtbworld.com/. Operation aborted." The problem was caused by Site Meter so I have removed it until it gets solved. Firefox 3.0 users didn’t have this problem though.

I took Site Meter off the site, at least temporarily, because readers using Internet Explorer 7 could no longer access this page . If you're using Internet Explorer 7, do yourself and me a favor. Stop it. Seriously. It's crap. Use Firefox. It's free and vastly superior . I had to strip down my Web site because of Microsoft's horrible product. Every other Web browser in the world has no trouble accessing...

What’s up with Site Meter ? We first reported the problem last night , but today their code still causes Internet Explorer 7 to throw an “Operation aborted” error. There are a lot of sites affected by this; did they just release a buggy update and go on a long weekend vacation? If you’re getting complaints from IE7 users, remove the Site Meter traffic counter code from your blog templates.

Do what I did, explained here where it talks about editing the template to move the Site Meter javascript out of any tables (causing the meter to appear at the bottom of the page). This worked for me. I also put an ordinary link to my Site Meter page in the sidebar so it will still be easy to check the statistics (which I like to do). blog advertising blog advertising
