When earlier this year John Donahoe was named eBay CEO, succeeding Meg Whitman, he indicated that planned changes would inflict some pain in the short term. He wasn't kidding. Figures released July 16 suggested that so far, Donahoe's changes, aimed at reviving growth, have done little to reverse a market share loss to rivals such as Amazon.com. For the second quarter, eBay reported profits of $460...

Oh my. Maybe this is some Meg Whitman idea to raise money for the campaign via eBay. I can name a few Democrats who would pay well for a pair.

Matt, Think Progress : On ABC's Good Morning America today, [July 7] senior McCain campaign adviser Meg Whitman defended Sen. John McCain's (R-AZ) infamous flip-flop on the Bush tax cuts by arguing that McCain voted against them because they were not accompanied by a decrease in government spending. You cannot just keep tax rates low, which is what Americans want, and keep government spending growing,...

I just heard the Governor of Louisiana interviewed on the Michael Medved show. He is very impressive. As much fun as I think it would be to have Meg Whitman as McCain's VP, I will now switch allegiance and endorse Bobby Jindal instead. The guy sounds like the real deal.

Kara Swisher's got a good piece on possible Yahoo! CEO replacements, with usual suspects Sue Deck, Meg Whitman, Dan Rosensweig trotted out. She also suggests Mac Andressen (interesting) and Mark Cuban (interesting as well.) Let me add a couple more prospects I think would be strong candidates: Michael Wol f , ex MTV president. Wolf is smart, nice, focused and well connected. A New Yorker with Valley...

With former EBAY CEO Meg Whitman's appointment as national co-chair of John McCain's campaign, the adoption of PayPal as a fund-raising tool was an easy prediction. Less obvious, but also likely in my opinion, is that Democratic hopeful Barack Obama will also adopt the alternative payment method in the weeks to come. (Photo by AP/Charles Dharapak)

Yesterday I noticed a significant number of posts in the blogosphere about the VP selection possibilities for John McCain so I wrote my booster piece for Meg Whitman. I took the link and embedded it in a couple of comment threads on other blogs.* I got lots more hits, but no comments. I could tell as I was writing it that my normal commenters weren't going to be that interested in it, but I was wondering...

One of the few talk show hosts I still listen to, Michael Medved, has written a very nice summary of McCain's possible VP choices . Michael is a very strong supporter of Bobby Jindal, the new governor of Louisiana, for VP. I like that idea, but I'll go one step further. I had originally thought that the ulitimate VP would be a self-made, hispanic businessman. Someone who had leadership and character...

John and Cindy McCain hosted an ecelectic group of potential republican running mates at their ranch in Sedona, Arizona. (Question: Do all republican presidents or candidates have ranches') Couldn't get more "diversity" at a republican gathering. There was a woman (former Ebay CEO Meg Whitman, who is quite possibly the only female republican left in the country). The token Indian-American Bobby Jindal...

Certain numbers have an iconic status in America’s business culture. One of them is the number of people who derive income selling goods on eBay: 1.3 million. The figure has been cited by eBay executives such as former CEO Meg Whitman, speaking on 60 Minutes in March; by companies that are part of the eBay [...]
